Miyu does not sell personal information, show targeted advertising, or include third-party advertising or tracking SDKs. We collect only the information needed to operate, secure, and improve the service.
Information you provide
- Account information, such as your email address, display name, account identifier, and passkey registration metadata. Miyu never receives the private key for your passkey.
- Learning and story activity, including course progress, vocabulary practice, choices, settings, and other state needed to continue your experience.
- Conversation content, including messages and speech transcripts you send to characters, along with generated replies.
- Support communications if you contact us, including the contents of your message and the address you use to send it.
Voice and camera
On supported iPhones and iPads, speech recognition for speaking practice and voice conversations runs on the device. Miyu sends the resulting text transcript—not the microphone recording—to the Miyu service when a story interaction needs a response. We do not retain microphone recordings.
Camera access is used only when you choose to scan a shared-notebook QR code. Miyu does not upload or retain the camera image.
Technical and security information
Our servers and hosting providers process ordinary network information such as IP address, request time, device or app version, response status, and security events. We use this information to deliver the service, prevent abuse, diagnose failures, and keep accounts secure. Authentication audit records may include account and credential identifiers, event type, result, and time; they do not contain passkey private keys or one-time activation codes.
How we use information
- Provide sign-in, learning, story, conversation, and synchronization features.
- Generate character responses and maintain continuity across sessions.
- Secure accounts, investigate failures, prevent abuse, and provide support.
- Understand reliability and improve the product without advertising profiles.
Service providers
Miyu uses service providers to run the product: Amazon Web Services for hosting and transactional email, OpenAI for language-model responses, Apple platform services for passkeys and on-device system capabilities, and Cloudflare for this marketing site. These providers process information only for the relevant service and under their own privacy and security obligations. We do not authorize them to use Miyu data for advertising.
Retention and deletion
Account, learning, and conversation data is retained while your account is active so the story can continue across sessions. Short-lived authentication challenges expire automatically. Operational logs, security records, and backups are retained only as long as reasonably necessary for security, reliability, legal obligations, and disaster recovery.
During the invitation-only Alpha, you may request a copy or deletion of your account and associated data by emailing info@learnmiyu.com from the address on your account. We may need to verify your identity before acting. Deletion does not include records we are legally required to keep; any such exception will be explained to you.
Your choices
Microphone, speech-recognition, and camera access are controlled in iOS Settings. You can decline those permissions and continue using features that do not need them. You may sign out at any time and contact us to access, correct, export, or delete your account information.
Children
Miyu is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 13. If you believe a child has provided information, contact us so we can investigate and delete it where required.
International processing
Depending on your location, information may be processed in countries other than your own. We use reasonable safeguards appropriate to the information and service involved.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Miyu changes. We will post the revised policy here and update the date above. Material changes will be communicated in an appropriate way.
